Hamas leader threatens another October 7-style attack, despite ceasefire negotiations
Khalil al-Haya, a Hamas leader, on Wednesday promised another attack similar to the one on Oct. 7, 2023, despite ongoing ceasefire negotiations. The statement came just after a tentative ceasefire was announced between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the U.S.
President-elect Donald Trump celebrated the ceasefire on Truth Social, linking it to his administration's influence.
"This EPIC ceasefire agreement could have only happened as a result of our Historic Victory in November," Trump wrote, highlighting the return of American and Israeli hostages.
Al-Haya, who publicly revealed himself as the leader of Hamas after the death of Yahya Sinwar in October 2024, made his remarks in a press conference. This development comes amid efforts to stabilize the region following over a year of conflict that has left Gaza in ruins and caused significant casualties on both sides.
The ceasefire is intended to pause the violence, allowing for the release of hostages and detainees, though al-Haya's comments suggest ongoing tensions.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office began investigating after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about child sexual abuse material (CSAM) being uploaded online. The investigation led to the discovery of 134 videos linked to an account controlled by Bell, including AI-generated content.
Bell, aged 49 and a father of four, was taken into custody following a search warrant executed at his home. He is the first person in Sacramento County charged with possessing AI-generated child pornography since it became a criminal offense on January 1. Bell is currently held in Sacramento County Main Jail on $1 million bail and is scheduled for a court appearance on January 17.
Bell, who won the Pulitzer for editorial cartooning in 2019, is known for his comic strips "Candorville" and "Rudy Park."
Here's one of Darrin Bell's cartoons accusing Donald Trump of being a sex pervert. What a surprise.

Trump received highest percentage of Jewish vote of any Republican candidate since 1988: Poll
President-elect Donald Trump garnered the highest percentage of the Jewish vote for any Republican presidential candidate since 1988, according to an analysis by WPA Intelligence. The data suggests Trump received 32% of the Jewish vote, an increase from the 30% in 2020 and 24% in 2016.
This uptick was particularly noticeable in battleground states, where Trump secured 41% of the Jewish vote in Pennsylvania, 38% in Arizona, and 42% in Nevada. In New York, Trump captured every precinct with a Jewish concentration of 50% or higher.
The analysis, citing AP/Fox News/NORC exit polls, reflects a significant shift from historical voting patterns where Jewish voters have predominantly favored Democratic candidates. This change is attributed to Trump's strong support for Israel and a perceived rise in antisemitism, influencing Jewish communities to vote more conservatively.
The Republican Jewish Coalition hailed this as a "historic shift" in the Jewish vote, celebrating Trump's increased support as a sign of his administration's pro-Israel policies resonating with Jewish voters.
However, other polls, like those from CNN, have shown differing results.
